Temporary Supply Shortage for Supply Chain Actors

Prev Next

Shortages in the supply of certified crops can occur due to various reasons, at different stages in the supply chain. For these cases, the Rainforest Alliance has set up a policy for temporary shortages (i.e., lasting less than six months) in supply of certified crops that result in a product failing to meet the requirements to use the Rainforest Alliance certification seal. The Rainforest Alliance’s objective in these cases is twofold: to create transparency for the affected consumers and to ensure that farmers do not suffer from a temporary decrease in demand.
